Barrika

Don’t forget to visit Barrika, some 25 kilometres from Bilbao between Sopela and Plentzia. Barrika is considered to be one of the Lordship of Bizkaia’s oldest towns, with numerous archaeological sites found in the region attesting to it being inhabited since antiquity.

A little more than 6 kilometres of coastline is home to cliffs and three beaches: Barrika, Meñakoz, and Muriola. These beaches are the most untouched and difficult to access of those in the surrounding region, and are well-loved among local surfers, nudists, and young people alike. The last of these, the beautiful yet small cove beach of Muriola, served as the natural backdrop for some scenes of the Game of Thrones’ seventh season.
