Guided Visit and Talo-Making Workshop at the Igartza Monumental Complex

The Igartza Monumental Complex, in Beasain, brings together several buildings that tell the story of the Goierri region from the Middle Ages to industrialisation: an iron forge, a mill, a palace, an inn, a bridge, a hermitage, and the canal of the Oria river. The guided tour covers this ensemble, explaining the function of each building, the connections between them, and the historical figures linked to the site, allowing visitors to understand the heritage value of the complex within its territory. After the visit, the talo-making workshop offers a gastronomic experience directly rooted in Basque farmhouse tradition. Participants learn the technique for making this corn flour flatbread, typical of Basque festivals and rural households, and at the end of the workshop they can taste the result — either savoury, with txistorra sausage, or sweet, with chocolate. The activity is suitable for all ages and requires prior booking, with a minimum of 8 people per group. A proposal that combines heritage and gastronomy in a single setting, and fits naturally as a cultural stop on any route through the Goierri.
