    Description

    Orduña (Urduña/Orduña) is a town in Bizkaia located at the foot of the Sierra Salvada, declared a historic-monumental ensemble in 1997. Its historic centre brings together a notable collection of religious and civic buildings: the 15th-century Gothic church of Santa María, the Baroque church of the Sagrada Familia and the Sanctuary of Nuestra Señora la Antigua, which houses the image of the town's patron saint.

    The natural surroundings extend the town's appeal beyond its historic core. The Sierra Salvada offers a landscape suited to hiking and outdoor activities, with summits such as Tologorri, Txarlazo and Solaiera. Nearby, the source of the River Nervión is one of the most striking natural features of the area: a canyon near Mount Santiago, topped by a waterfall that can be viewed from a lookout point.

    This dual character — protected historic heritage and mountain landscape — defines Orduña and its place within the Biscayan territory.
