Description
Ataria is the Interpretation Centre for the Salburua Wetlands, located just 3 km from the centre of Vitoria (Vitoria-Gasteiz), within the Green Belt. It serves as the gateway to Salburua Park, a natural wetland on the eastern edge of the city, shaped around two main lagoons and a network of marked trails that can be explored at different paces. The Salburua wetlands hold international recognition as a Ramsar Site for their exceptional ecological value, and are home to remarkable biodiversity: waterfowl, deer, and plant species typical of wetland habitats. The centre offers interpretation spaces, signposted routes, guided visits, and birdwatching activities. It can be visited independently or with a guide, and works well as a stop within a broader walk along the Green Belt. For travellers moving through the Basque Country, Ataria provides direct access to one of the most ecologically significant wetland ecosystems in Euskadi.
