Discover Ekoetxea Meatzaldea in Gallarta

Ekoetxea Meatzaldea is the mining interpretation centre of Biscay, part of the Ekoetxea network of environmental centres run by the Basque Government. Its main venue is located in Gallarta, in the heart of the Biscay Mining Zone, overlooking the Concha 2ª mine — the last active mine in Biscay. The centre offers a journey through time across a landscape deeply shaped by human activity: exploring the area's mining past, understanding the present through its mines and galleries, and reflecting on the relationship between people and the natural environment. The programme at this venue includes creative workshops, collaborative challenges, and virtual visits, among other experiences.
