Aizkorri-Aratz Natural Park

Aizkorri-Aratz Natural Park stretches across Álava and Gipuzkoa and forms the highest mountain range in Euskadi. Its main peak, Aizkorri, reaches 1,551 metres, while Aratz rises to 1,443 metres. The landscape is shaped by limestone ridges and sweeping beech forests that define one of the most distinctive natural spaces in the Basque Country.

The park's cultural heritage is equally significant. The San Adrián tunnel, recognised by UNESCO, served for centuries as a key passage along the Camino Real and the Camino de Santiago. The surrounding area preserves dolmens, ancient caves — including the Arrikrutz Caves — and traces of Roman roads that speak to the strategic importance of this territory throughout history.

The park has two interpretation centres: Parketxe Anduetza, located in Zegama at the foot of the Aizkorri range, and Parketxe Arantzazu, situated within the Sanctuary of Arantzazu in Oñati. Both offer complementary perspectives on the park's natural and cultural heritage.
