Monte Igueldo, in Donostia (Donostia/San Sebastián), is home to one of the most distinctive historic leisure complexes in the Basque Country. The funicular, with over a hundred years of history, climbs the hillside in wooden carriages just as it did when it carried guests to the early twentieth-century casino and ballroom.
