Description

The Old Town of Donostia-San Sebastián is the city's historic core, nestled between the Urumea river, the harbour and the slopes of Monte Urgull. This neighbourhood holds the oldest buildings in the city and an exceptionally vibrant social scene. Its cobbled streets are lined with pintxos bars and landmarks such as the Basilica of Santa María, the church of San Vicente and the Plaza de la Constitución, the traditional gathering place for local celebrations including the Tamborrada festival. The harbour keeps the district's seafaring identity alive through restaurants, the Naval Museum and the Aquarium. From Plaza Zuloaga, the San Telmo Museum opens a window onto Basque history and culture. The route can be extended by climbing Monte Urgull, where several viewpoints and the Castillo de la Mota reward visitors with sweeping views over the city and the bay. A compact, walkable stop that brings together history, gastronomy and urban landscape in a single neighbourhood.
