Mutriku

Mutriku is a coastal municipality in Gipuzkoa with a long maritime tradition and a historic quarter declared a Monumental Ensemble, regarded as one of the best-preserved in the Basque Country. Its cobbled streets, palaces and manor houses form an ensemble that reflects the historical weight of a town with deep maritime roots.

The municipality is part of the UNESCO Geopark of the Basque Coast, which includes the flysch cliffs along its shoreline and the karst valleys of the interior, such as the Olatz valley. The Nautilus Museum, a geological interpretation centre located in the town itself, offers a closer look at the natural history of this landscape.

Mutriku also has beaches and natural rock pools, and a canning industry producing anchovy, bonito and tuna that are recognised for their quality. All of this makes it a point of significant interest on the Gipuzkoa coastline.
