Lekeitio

Lekeitio is a coastal municipality in Bizkaia, set in a small estuary surrounded by mountains and sheltered by an island that can be reached on foot at low tide. Its official history dates back to 1325, though the coastline it occupies has been inhabited for far longer.

The sea has always been central to the town's identity: whalers, fishermen and merchants left their mark on the historic quarter, the quays and the remains of the old town wall.
