Discover the Santa Catalina Lighthouse in Lekeitio

The Santa Catalina Lighthouse, set in a prominent natural enclave along the coast of Lekeitio, is the first lighthouse in Euskadi open to the public. Together with the watchtower, it forms a navigation technology interpretation centre covering everything from ancient signals and stars to the light systems that guided sailors back to shore, including the history of whale spotting along this coast. The visit lasts approximately 50 minutes and combines exhibition content with interactive technology. A central element is a virtual boat journey from Lekeitio to Elantxobe, which puts the visitor in the position of a sailor lost at sea and brings to life the significance of the lighthouse beam as a signal of return. The outdoor terraces offer views over the Basque coast. Visits are limited to 20 people per group and access is not permitted for children under 3 years of age. Weekday group visits require prior booking with a minimum of 20 people.
