Izki Natural Park

Izki Natural Park lies in the southeast of Álava and is the fourth largest protected natural space in Euskadi, after Gorbeia, Aizkorri-Aratz and Aralar. Its landscape combines extensive woodland, rock formations, small rivers running through the valleys, and wetlands that support flora and fauna of considerable ecological value.

The park is particularly well regarded for birdwatching, with dedicated itineraries and purpose-built observation points. Hikers can choose from trails of varying difficulty, and cyclists have access to more than 500 kilometres of marked routes. Within the park, the medieval village of Korres is the only inhabited settlement, underscoring the natural and largely untouched character of the area.

The rich diversity of plant and animal species, combined with traces of human activity through the centuries, make Izki a space of outstanding ecological and cultural heritage within the Álava territory.
