Description
isit the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum at your own pace. Its permanent collection traces the main styles and schools of Western art, from the Romanesque to the twentieth-century avant-gardes, through more than 19,000 works: over 2,000 paintings, around 500 sculptures, nearly 800 pieces of decorative arts dating from the thirteenth to the twentieth century, and an extensive collection of works on paper including prints, drawings, photography and posters.\n\nAmong its highlights are works by El Greco, Sorolla, Gauguin and Richard Serra, alongside what is considered one of the finest collections of Basque art, with pieces by Jorge Oteiza, Eduardo Chillida and Ignacio Zuloaga, among others. The building is currently undergoing an architectural transformation led by Norman Foster and Luis María Uriarte.\n\nFor travellers exploring Bilbao as part of a longer journey, the museum offers a substantial stop: a space where international art and Basque artistic heritage come together in a single visit
