Self-guided visit to the Orozko Ethnographic Museum

  • A legendary journey
    Lekeitio — Vitoria-Gasteiz

Description

The Orozko Ethnographic Museum, also known as Orozkoko Museoa, is housed in the Legorburu Palace House — better known as Casa Kareaga — an 18th-century manor building on the main square of Orozko, next to the town hall, in the surroundings of the Gorbeia Natural Park. The museum offers an interactive and participatory experience spread across three floors: through audiovisual displays, scale models and content on the agricultural calendar, legends and Basque mythology, visitors discover the traditions and ways of life of the valley's ancestors. The visit extends beyond the building itself: many of the elements featured in the museum can still be found in situ in the Orozko Valley and Gorbeia Natural Park, where ethnographic features such as steles, ice houses, caves and hedgehog traps are preserved. The building also houses the Orozko tourist information office, making it an ideal starting point for planning a route through the area. The facilities are adapted for visitors with physical disabilities and an audio guide is available
