Vasco-Navarro Railway Greenway

The Vasco-Navarro Railway Greenway, also known as the Camino del Trenico, follows the route of the former railway line linking Estella-Lizarra with the Basque Country. Stretching over 120 kilometres, it is one of the longest greenways in Spain and passes through varied landscapes of the Alavese Mountains, with sections open to walkers, cyclists and, in some stretches, horse riders.

The municipality of Campezo is one of the key reference points along the route. From Antoñana — where the Greenway Interpretation Centre is housed in three restored railway wagons — two main sections depart: one towards Maeztu-Maestu and another towards Santa Cruz de Campezo, with the option to continue as far as the Arquijas Viaduct. Along the way, iron bridges, tunnels and abandoned stations bear witness to the region's railway heritage.

Close by lies the Izki Natural Park, home to the largest downy oak forest in Western Europe, offering a natural complement to the greenway experience.
