Valderejo Natural Park

Valderejo Natural Park is a small valley located in the far west of Álava, declared a Natural Park in 1992. Despite its modest size, it contains a remarkable diversity of ecosystems and landscapes that give it outstanding ecological and natural value.

The Purón river gorge is the park's most striking landscape feature, accessible via a straightforward and well-marked trail that winds through one of the most impressive settings in the Álava region. Yet the true protagonist of Valderejo is the griffon vulture: the park is home to the largest colony of these scavenging raptors in Euskadi, an ornithological heritage that can be explored through trails, observation hides and purpose-built facilities.

The rich diversity of flora and fauna, combined with traces of human presence through the centuries, make Valderejo a space of outstanding ecological and cultural heritage within the Álava territory.
